Stockton, Calif. - Pacific swept the singles and picked up the doubles point for an 7-0 win in a dual match against Fresno Pacific Friday after at the Hal Nelson Tennis Courts.
"Today felt good," head coach Charlotte Scatliffe said. "Going into the match we had the goal of leaving our home turf not only with the win, but feeling good about how each player performed. We focused on our feet, heart, and the Tiger spirit and that got us the win. No team is easy to beat 7-0 and I am especially proud of our first year players Christiana Ferrari and Hana Ritterova for picking up their first dual match college wins."
Sophomore Iveta Masarova posted 7-6, 6-2 win in the No. 1 singles slot over FPU's Marie Boura, while freshman Hana Ritterova won 6-3, 6-2 over Petra Jurova in second-slot.
Junior Susan Te needed a first-set tie-breaker for the 7-6 (0), 6-2 win against Katarena Paliivets, while freshman Christiana Ferrari topped Erika Januskova, 6-2, 7-6 (6).
In No. 5 singles, sophomore Gergana Boncheva posted a 6-2, 6-4 win over Anna Mikhaylova, and sophomore Regina Suarez was a 6-0, 6-1 winner over Erin Carlson.
Senior Sheena Chaudhuri also turned in an 8-1 win over Nicole Simoni.
In doubles action, Masarova and Ritterova teamed for an 8-5 win over Jurova and Boura, and Ferrari and Te rolled to an 8-1 win over Mikhaylova and Simoni. Fresno Pacific's tandem of Paliivets and Januskova earned an 8-3 win over Boncheva and Suarez.
The Tigers are back in action on Feb. 8 against Weber State in a dual match at UNLV. On Feb. 9, Pacific will face UNLV. Both matches are slated for 10 am starts.
