Sophomore Iveta Masarova Kicks Off ITA Regionals With A Win

Palo Alto, Calif.-The Pacific Tigers started their trip to the regionals with a win produced by sophomore Iveta Massarova.  She faced Saint Mary's College Product Danielle Flores in her first match of the day and won in straight sets to post a final match score of 7-5, 6-2.

In her second round match, Masarova faced nationally ranked Klara Fabikov (12) of California and they also had a match in which the winner was decided in straight sets.

At the conclusion of match play, Head Women's Tennis Coach Charlotte Scatliffe stated, "Today's matches were tough but the Tigers showed good heart.  Iveta had displayed her experience today by keeping even keeled in her first round match against Saint Marys Danielle Flores.  In her second round match against 12th seeded player Klara Fabikov, she was pushed even harder and as a team have decided to work on playing each point like it's the first of the day.  Regina and Christiana both had rematches from past tournaments this fall and each of them felt the improvements they have made.  That is really all I could ask for.  We made a "PAC" for this tournament.  Positive, Active and Controlled.  We will be sticking to it."
