Berkeley, Calif.-The Tigers competed in the first day of the Cal Nike Invitational in Berkeley, California. At the Cal Nike Invitational, the Tigers experienced a number of challenges in all of the various flights. While some Tigers did not prove victorious, they found themselves competing against those who are among the best in the nation, those holding national ranking and recognition.
In the singles events, sophomore Gergana Boncheva proved to be an integral player for the Tigers today having advanced from the round of 32 in the singles flight to the round of 16 while fellow Tiger, freshman Christiana Ferrari who made her debut as a Tiger, advanced in the consolation bracket after having come up short in her match in the main blue flight.
