After a lengthy delay due to the rain, the Tigers finally were able to compete and while some will be advancing to the third day, others came up short when matched up against seeded players.
Freshman Iveta Masarova made it to the consolation quarterfinals where she came up short against the No. 3 seed, Julija Lukac from the University of Washington. Freshman Regina Suarez also faced a seeded player. Suarez battled against the No. 1 seed Bianca Modoc of Fresno State in the B flight singles round of 16.
At the conclusion of the second day of the tournament, Coach Chiene stated, "It was a tough, cold day to play. Irvin played two long three setters then still had to play doubles at 8:30pm tonight and was pretty drained of energy. I am proud of the way the girls competed and continue to learn and grow from playing all these matches. We will benefit as a team in the spring for the court time and match play we are getting this fall. We are a very young team with three freshmen and another freshman coming in the spring."
The Tigers will continue on in the third day in the consolation brackets. Doubles matches will begin at 8:30 am and singles matches will follow.
