The ladies started the first day of the Saint Mary's Invitational with quite the competition. Junior Julia Hansen came up short in her singles match against Portland's Nastya Polyakova in straight sets, but put up quite the fight in the first round of the consolation bracket. In Hansen's match against Julia Wartenburger. The ladies split sets, Hansen having claimed the second, but came up short in the third set tiebreak. Though day one proved to be a challenge, the Tigers remained positive and adjusted their strategy in order to be successful.
The new additions to the team seemed to adapt quickly and they proved victorious. Freshmen Gergana Boncheva and Regina Suarez identified their strengths in the first consolation round. The Tigers will continue on to the second day of the tournament.
