In her third season at Pacific, Van Konynenburg continued to add depth in the Tigers' mid-distance and distance freestyle groups. At the 2013 MPSF Championships, she placed 27th in the 200 Free (1:54.55) and 29th in the 500 Free (5:11.19). At the Pacific Invite, she took 12th in the 1650 Free (18:19.25) and 14th in both the 100 Free (54.54) and the 200 Free (1:56.97). The UNLV Winter Invite saw Van Konynenburg place seventh in the 500 Free (5:10.56) and ninth in the 200 Free (1:53.24).
Primarily swimming the distance freestyle events, Van Konynenburg had a solid sophomore campaign for the Tigers. She took second in the 1000 Free twice on the year, once against conference foe UC Santa Barbara. Showing her versatility, Van Konynenburg added a third-place finish in the 100 Free against Fresno Pacific and UC Santa Cruz before placing fourth in the 50 Free versus UCSB. At the 2012 MPSF Championships, she placed 18th in the 200 Free with a time of 1:53.94.
Van Konynenburg earned a pair of top-five finishes in the 100 Back (1:02.76) and the 50 Free (25.66) in Pacific’s win against Cal State Bakersfield on Oct. 30. She finished fourth in the 100 Back (1:01.94) versus Stanford on Jan. 8 and fourth in the 100 Free (56.68) at the Tri Meet on Jan. 22.
Van Konynenburg attended Parel Vallei High School in Cape Town, South Africa.
Van Konynenburg was born in Cape Town, South Africa, and is the daughter of Bernard and Karin Van Konynenburg. She has a younger sister, Stacey. Van Konynenburg is pursing a degree in business and enjoys hanging out with friends and listening to music.
