Swimming Returns To Action Saturday At Stanford

Stockton, Calif. – After its winter hiatus, the Pacific women's swim team returns to competition Saturday, Jan. 7, in a road dual meet at No. 6 Stanford. The meet is set to begin at noon, and results for the meet can be viewed live here.

The Tigers last competed at the Arena Invitational in Long Beach from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19. The prestigious meet featured some of the top squads in the nation and saw Pacific hold its own behind some impressive performances. Junior Mallory McGowan recorded the highest finish for the women, taking 12th in the 100 Breast (1:03.91). The Tigers had a pair of 16th-place finishers in sophomore MaryElla Randall and freshman Dekel Shahaf. Randall clocked in at 23.49 in the 50 Free while Shahaf touched the wall at 56.41 in the 100 Fly. Junior Jenna Chaplin came in at 2:04.00 in the 200 Fly, good for 20th.

Pacific has multiple swimmers whose times rank in the top eight amongst all Mountain Pacific Sports Federation swimmers. Randall ranks fourth in the 50 Free with a time of 23.31 while senior Elena Walterman ranks fourth in the 100 Fly with a time of 55.54. A trio of Tigers ranks sixth in their respective events. Sophomore Shelby Bolin owns a time of 2:02.75 in the 200 Back while McGowan's mark of 1:03.77 in the 100 Breast and Shahaf's time of 55.64 in the 100 Fly all rank sixth. Senior Jayme Swalin's times of 4:58.20 in the 500 Free and 17:16.08 in the 1650 Free are good for eighth, respectively. Pacific's 200 Medley Relay squad ranks third behind a time of 1:42.78. Three relay teams all rank fifth with times of 1:35.59 in the 200 Free Relay, 3:29.54 in the 400 Free Relay, and 7:34.87 in the 800 Free Relay. The Tigers' 400 Medley Relay team ranks seventh with a time of 3:57.72.

Four swimmers can find their times in the top 200 nationally. Randall's mark of 23.31 in the 50 Free is good for 116th while McGowan ranks 150th in the 100 Breast with a time of 1:03.77. Both Walterman and Shahaf rank in the 100 Fly, with Walterman's time of 55.54 ranking 152nd and Shahaf's time of 55.64 ranking 167th. The Tigers' 200 Medley Relay team ranks 43rd with a time of 1:42.78. The three relay teams rank 75th (800 Free Relay, 7:34.87), 82nd (200 Free Relay, 1:35.59), and 92nd (400 Free Relay, 3:29.54). The 400 Medley Relay team ranks 148th with a time of 3:58.22.
