Walterman was a Second Team All-MPSF honoree in the 100 Fly and finished seventh in the same event (55.93) at the 2011 MPSF Championships. She placed first in the 100 Fly (58.28) and the 200 Fly (2:08.37) in the Tigers’ win over Cal State Bakersfield on Oct. 30 before touching the wall first in the same two events in the Quad Meet Nov. 6. Walterman also came in first in the 200 Fly (2:09.54) against UC Davis on Jan. 14 and the 100 Fly (58.73) in the Tri Meet on Jan. 22.
At the 2010 Big West Championships, Walterman finished second in the 200 Fly (2:02.30), fifth in the 100 Fly (55.80), and 13th in the 500 Free (5:07.92). She was also a member of the 800 Free Relay (7:29.49), 400 Free Relay (3:31.63), and 400 Medley Relay (3:47.92) teams that finished third, fourth, and fourth, respectively. Walterman had a pair of first-place finishes in the 100 Fly (58.52) and the 200 Fly (2:06.35) at the Tri Meet on Nov. 21. She came in first in the 100 Fly (57.91) and second in the 200 Fly (2:05.81) versus Stanford on Jan. 9. In all, she took first place in the two Fly events six times. Showing her versatility, she claimed first place in the 200 Free against Fresno State on Jan. 14, clocking in at 1:55.25. She did the same versus UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 30.
Walterman finished fifth in the 100 Fly (55.31), ninth in the 200 Fly (2:04.59), and 17th in the 200 IM (2:10.84) at the 2009 Big West Championships. She was also a member of the third-place 400 Medley Relay (3:36.61) team. Walterman had her breakout meet against UC Davis on Jan. 24, winning the 100 Fly (57.45) and finishing second in the 200 Fly (2:07.14). She followed that with wins in the same events against Cal Poly on Feb. 6, this time with times of 57.33 and 2:05.58.
Framingham HS (‘08):
Walterman prepped at Framingham High School in Framingham, Mass. She led her team to numerous top-three finishes in the New England Senior Championships, claiming an individual title in the 100 Fly in 2006. Walterman was named to the National Top 16 list as well as the New England Top 10 list. She swam for the Shawmut Aquatic Club under coaches Matthew Craven and Susan Trainer.
Walterman was born in Plano, Texas, and is the daughter of Michael Walterman and Nora Scharf. She has an older brother, Thomas, and a twin brother, Maxwell, both of whom swim. Walterman lists surfing, snowboarding, and traveling as her hobbies. She is pursuing a degree in sports medicine.
