Tigers Host No. 10 Stanford To Close Out Non-Conference Play
April 19, 2011
Week 11 Notes - vs. No. 10 Stanford
Playing their final mid-week contest and wrapping up non-conference action, the Pacific softball team will host No. 10 Stanford in a single contest on Tuesday, April 19 at Bill Simoni Field. The two teams will square off in a make-up game from earlier this season when rain washed out the second day of the Stanford Invitational. Stanford's visit to Stockton, Calif. will be their first trip East to Pacific since the 2002 season.
The Tigers enter the contest having won eight of their last 10 games including the last three non-conference midweek matchups at Bill Simoni Field. Pacific last defeated Santa Clara on midweek in the first-ever night game at the Tigers' home field. Additionally, the Tigers have taken down a pair of top-25 teams in No. 23 Fresno State and No. 8 Cal in midweek contests in the last month. Currently this season Pacific is 11-3 at Bill Simoni Field, its best mark at home since the 2007 season when Pacific went 14-3 at home. All-time Pacific is 258-157-1 (.621) at the facility since it opened in 1993.
For the Cardinal, a midseason lull has given way to a six-game winning streak as Stanford has pushed its way into the top-10 in the country with a 30-8 overall record. Stanford is coming off a series wins against No. 6 UCLA and Oregon State in Pac-10 play while also adding a 3-1 win over San Jose State last Tuesday on April 12.
The game is scheduled for 4:00 pm at Bill Simoni Field.
