STOCKTON, Calif. - After a month-long road trip, the Tiger softball team finally returns home this weekend as they host Loyola Marymount for a three-game series. Play opens up Saturday with a double header at 12 & 2 PM, and the series wraps up on Sunday at noon. A live stream of all three contests will be available courtesy of theW.tv.
The Tigers look to bounce back after falling to #20 BYU this past weekend, which brought them to 18-24 on the year, 1-5 in West Coast Conference play. This season LMU is 16-26 overall, including 2-4 in conference action, and are led by Amanda Dirks who ranks eights in the conference with a .331 batting average. Last season against the Lions, the Orange and Black put up seven runs in the first inning en route to a 10-6 win. Sydney Lahners, Rachel Sellers, Molly Bourne and Haylee Moran-Rowen all had multiple hits in the contest, with Lahners and Moran-Rowen both notching two RBIs each in the victory.
Bourne reached base in all three games against the Cougars last weekend, propelling her on-base percentage to a team-leading .479. Freshman Hailey Reed has established herself as one of the premier pitchers in the WCC, and currently ranks fourth in the conference in ERA with a mark of 2.64. Reed has also held opponents to the seventh-lowest batting average at a .261 clip and limited opponents to the fourth-fewest hits at 61.
Following the showdown with Loyola Marymount the Tigers hit the road for the final time as they take on Santa Clara on April 29-30. Regular season play concludes at home against Saint Mary's on May 6-7.
