EUGENE, Ore. - The Tigers edged out Hofstra 3-2 in game one of the afternoon behind Kenya Lindstrom's complete game victory. Lindstrom (3-4) got her sixth start of the year, going the distance with two strikeouts including one to end the game. Starr Vang and Rachel Sellers provided the offense for Pacific as they both sent home runs to left field.
As they did the day before, Hofstra put a run up in the first inning as Hallam led off with a walk and scored on a sac fly to left. In the bottom of the second, Starr Vang knocked her first collegiate home run over the left field wall to tie the game at 1-1.
Caitlyn Sung worked a walk to lead off the third and next batter Hailey Reed reached on a fielding error which moved Sung into scoring position. The runners advanced on Rachel Seller's groundout, but Samantha Owen struck out ending the inning.
Lindstrom retired the Pride in order in the fourth. In the bottom of the fifth Reed singled to left and with two down Sellers whacked her fourth home run of the season over the left field wall to give the Tigers the 3-1 advantage.
Hofstra got one back on a home run of their own to make it 3-2 in the top of the sixth and threatened in the seventh as Edwards singled to lead off the inning. However Lindstrom was able to get Scarpato swinging to end the game and secure the win.
The Tigers take on #4 Oregon at 5:30 PM to cap off tournament play.
