Tigers Take Their Show Back On The Road To UC Santa Barbara

Complete Release

Riding a six-game winning streak in Big West play to the top of the conference standings, the Pacific softball team will take its show on the road to Santa Barbara to take on the Gauchos of UCSB.  The Tigers and the Gauchos sit at the top of the standings after the first three weeks of Big West play with Pacific at the top at 7-2 while the Gauchos find themselves a game back at 6-3.  Both teams enter the week after picking up three-game sweeps of Cal State Fullerton and UC Riverside last weekend.

Last season, the Tigers swept the Gauchos at home at Bill Simoni Field, winning 3-2, 5-1, and 9-2 to pick up their second of two conference sweeps on the year.

In a battle of the unstoppable force versus the immovable object, the Tigers will take their high powered offense into Santa Barbara to take on one of the league's best, and hottest, pitchers in freshman Shelby Wisdom.  Wisdom went 5-0 last week en route to earning Big West Pitcher of the Week as she pitched the Gauchos to the sweep of UC Riverside on the road.  However, the Tigers have their own player of the week waiting in the wings as sophomore Taylor Petty earned her first-career weekly honor last week after pacing Pacific's offense at the plate.  The Tigers have had five different hitters earn the player of the week award throughout the season and have won the last two awards handed out by the conference.
