Take Two, Pacific Hits The Road For The Stanford Nike Invitational
Hitting the road for the second straight weekend, the Pacific softball team heads to the familiar confines of Smith Family Stadium on the campus of Stanford University for the 2012 Stanford Nike Invitational. The Tigers will be one of four teams at the tournament as Pacific takes on Nevada, Bradley and No. 8 Stanford throughout the weekend's action.
On Friday, February 17, Pacific takes on Nevada at 10:00 am to begin tournament action before playing the host Cardinal at 2:30 pm in Stanford's home opener. On Saturday, February 18, the Tigers play Bradley at 10:00 am before gearing up for semifinal action later in the day. The tournament's championship will be contested on Sunday, February 19 at 12:30 pm to end play at the invitiational.
For the Tigers, the trip to Stanford will be just their second stint of live action in the new year after playing two games at UCLA to begin the season the previous weekend. The Tigers will be in comfortable territory at Stanford after spending the previous eight years playing in at least one Cardinal tournament dating back to 2004. Last season, Pacific made two trips to The Farm as the Tigers played an early season tournament at Stanford before making a trip back to Bay Area for the 2011 NCAA Regionals.
