1998 Big West Champions To Be inducted Into Pacific Hall Of Fame

Stockton, Calif. - With the announcement of the 2011 Pacific Athletic Hall of Fame inductees, the 1998 Pacific Soccer team will join the ranks of the all-time greatest Pacific sports teams as they will enter the hall of fame on April 23 as part of the class of 2011. They will be part of a class that features four individuals that include: John Gamble (Football), Sharon Kasser-Stephens (Volleyball), Bill Simoni (Contributor) and Greg Wakeham (Volleyball).
The 1998 women's soccer team finished 15-3-3 and 7-0-2 in Big West Conference play, earning the school's first-ever berth in the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers defeated Cal 2-1 in Stagg Stadium in the opening round, advancing to the Round of 32 becoming the first Big West soccer team to advance past the first round. The Tigers were led by head coach Keith Coleman, who earned 1998 Big West Coach of the Year honors. On the field, Natalie Dorr, the 1998 Big West Player of the Year, led the team with 14 goals including 8 game winners and 10 assists. The `98 Tigers were the first soccer team in Big West history to post an unbeaten conference season record (7-0-2).
Induction ceremonies and the annual awards banquet will be held on Saturday, April 23, 2011, at the Alex G. Spanos Center on the Pacific campus.
