Last week Pacific blanked Portland 2-0 to improve to 4-7-2 overall as well as 1-1 in WCC action. Alex Hussar put the Tigers on the board in the 30th minute as she brought the ball up the left side towards the baseline and fired a shot towards the far right post to give Pacific a 1-0 advantage. Bianca Lopez made it 2-0 when she ripped a shot from beyond the box that went perfectly into the top-left corner of the goal for the score. Regan Heslop made four saves for her second shutout victory between the posts this season.
San Diego boasts a 3-8 record this year, including 1-0 in conference play, and will take on Saint Mary's this Thursday before hosting Pacific on Saturday. Last time out the Toreros edge Pacific 2-1 at Knoles Field in double overtime. Samia Adam scored in the 23rd minute off an assist from Sigrid Aas and Lena Perry added six saves, but the visitors scored in the 71st and 107th minutes to escape with the victory.
With 14 goals scored this season, the Tigers have already netted more goals than they have last season (12) in four fewer games played. Pacific is also allowing nearly an entire goal less per game compared to last year while logging three shutout victories, which are the most for the program since the 2011 season.
The road trip continues for Pacific as they next head to Provo, Utah to take on BYU on Oct. 12th at 6 PM PDT. The Tigers then return home on Oct. 20th to face San Francisco before hosting their last regular season home game on Oct. 22nd against Santa Clara.
