Moraga, Calif. - Senior Brittni Beeman scored in the final minute and a half to give the Pacific women's soccer team 2-1 victory over New Mexico on Sunday, September 15. It was the Tigers' second match of the Saint Mary's College Classic. Pacific improved to 1-4-2 on the season, while New Mexico dropped to 2-6-0.
"This was a great win against a very good opponent," said Head Coach Keith Coleman. "The team really came together and never gave up. I am excited for all of our players and proud of the character they displayed today."
The Tigers fell behind 1-0 at the 15:48 mark, after Madisyn Olguin scored for the Lobos on a header off of a corner kick. Pacific held a 6-4 advantage in first half shots.
Pacific's first seven shots of the second half came up empty, though Beeman had a shot that hit the crossbar at the 67:48 mark. Freshman Alex Hussar scored her first collegiate goal at 78:07, on a header off of a free kick from Beeman. With time running out in regulation, Beeman blasted the game-winner at 88:26, on a pass from senior Maricela Padilla.
A 10-5 shot advantage in the second half helped the Tigers outshoot the Lobos 16-9. Pacific also held a 5-3 edge in corners. Senior Tashia Long had four saves in the victory, including a save with just 30 seconds to play.
