Shayda played in 17 matches as a freshman for the Tigers, making five starts. She scored her only goal of the season in Pacific's 3-3 tie at UC Santa Barbara on Sept. 30. She had five shots on the year, including three on goal. Excelling in the clasroom, she was a Pacific and Big West Scholar Athlete. Shayda was voted Most Improved by her teammates following the season.
Ansari was a Second Team All-Marmonte League selection as a sophomore and junior at Newbury Park High School, helping the team to a 11-4-6 record in 2011, and the furthest playoff run in school history, going to the CIF semifinals. As a senior, she captained her team to a 12-9-4 overall record and a berth into the CIF tournament once again. She also earned three letters in track, running the 400-meter dash, 4x100 and 4x400 relays. Outside of soccer, Shayda was the senior class president. She has played club soccer for the Real SoCal since 2009 after four seasons with the Crossfire Premier in Seattle, Wash. With Real SoCal, Shayda helped the squad win two state titles, a Western regional crown and a third-place finish in a national tournament in 2010. Ansari earned Olympic Developmental Program experience with the 2009 Washington team and in 2010, was a member of the U-17 California State National Cup winners, finishing third in the nation at the US Youth Soccer Association National Finals.
Shayda Ansari was born in Newbury Park, Calif., and is the daughter of Shawn and Shannon Ansari. She has a brother, Jahaan. Ansari will major in management and human resources.
