Women's Soccer Earns NSCAA Academic Award
Stockton, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team earned a NSCAA Team Academic Award for the 2010-11 academic year on Friday, marking the second straight year the program has received the honor.
The Tigers were honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America for having a team grade point average over 3.00. As a team, the Tigers posted a cumulative team GPA of 3.17, highest in the Big West Conference this season. Pacific was one of four Big West teams honored on the women's side.
Pacific has earned the NSCAA Team Academic Award for the sixth time in the last 10 years, reeling off four straight from 2002-2005.
Three Tigers were named 2010 Big West All-Academic selections last season, seniors Laura Hogan, Alex Topp and junior Laura Hernandez. The 2011 All-Academic team will be announced later this month.
The Tigers finished the season 8-9-1, including a 6-1-1 home record. Pacific posted a 3-2 home win over then-No. 18-ranked and eventual Big West regular season champion UC Irvine, who earned an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament.
