Five Tigers Named To Big West Women's Soccer Teams
Stockton, Calif. – The Pacific women's soccer team placed five on the Big West all-conference teams Tuesday, as seniors Kristina Wavomba and Alex Topp earned Second Team accolades, seniors Angelica Figueroa, Laura Hogan and sophomore Brittni Beeman were named Honorable Mention.
Wavomba, the Tigers' leading scorer, earned Big West honors four the fourth-straight year. The 2008 Freshman of the Year has been named All-Big West the last three seasons. In her senior campaign, the forward was fifth in the Big West with 20 points, and fourth in the conference in goal scoring with eight. The Encinitas, Calif., native sits fourth all time at Pacific in both goals (23) and points (59). She also ranks fourth in game-winning goals with six. Her 13 career assists ranks ninth in Tiger history.
Topp was named to the Second Team for the second-straight year after earning honorable mention honors as a sophomore in 2009. The midfielder had a breakout year offensively as a senior with six goals, tied for 11th in the Big West this season. Her 13 points on the year brought her career total to 27, which sits 17th all time at Pacific. With 12 career goals, the San Diego native is tied with Figueroa for 12th all-time in the Tigers' history.
Figueroa earned a spot on the honorable mention team after finishing her senior campaign with seven assists and one goal. The seven helpers was fourth in the Big West, as she moved into fourth on the Big West's all-time assists leaderboard with 23 career assists. Figueroa is third in Pacific history in assists with 23 and tied with Topp for 12th with 12 career goals. The 2008 Big West Midfielder of the Year was also a First Team All-Big West selection and a First Team All-West Region pick and Big West All-Academic selection as a sophomore.
Joining Figueroa on the honorable mention list was senior defender Laura Hogan. The Poway, Calif., native was a Second Team All-Big West selection as a freshman, the last season she played defender. As a sophomore and junior, Hogan played forward, as she finished her Pacific career 15th in points with 30, while her 13 goals is 11th all-time at Pacific. She's tied with Wavomba with six game-winning goals in her career.
Last year's Big West Freshman of the Year, Brittni Beeman earned her second Honorable Mention nod as a sophomore while anchoring the Tigers' backline. She chipped in a pair of goals with six assists, a mark which ranks tied for fifth in the Big West this season. The San Diego native has started 35 of 36 games in her career, and helped the Tigers allow the third-fewest shots on goal in the Big West this season.
