Tigers Fall In Opener Of NorPac Tournament
Nov. 4, 2010
Davidson, N.C. - The Pacific field hockey team put up a hard fight in the opener of the NorPac tournament before falling to No. 1 seed and host Davidson 2-1 November 4th, 2010. Senior Megan Pedersen (Escondido, Calif.) scored the tying goal in the 40th minute for the Tigers.
After playing each other to a scoreless draw in the first half, Davidson wasted little time getting their offense going in the second half. Hannah English took a pass from Finley Amato two minutes into the start of the final period and scored from the top of the circle.
However, the Tigers weren't ready to go down without a battle. Just three minutes later Pederson took in a pass from freshman Emily Tregoning (San Jose, Calif.) and knotted Pacific at one goal apiece.
In the 45th minute, Christine Rua took in a pass once again from Finley Amato and finished out scoring for the day. The Tigers had one last opportunity with a penalty corner, but junior Amanda Spellman's (Gilroy, Calif.) shot was blocked.
In goal, sophomore Ashlee Schlesier (San Diego, Calif.) got the start and recorded 15 saves.
The Tigers are back in action November 5th, and will face the loser of the Cal-Radford game.
