Stockton, Calif. - Freshman Cristina Castella (Terrassa, Spain) earned national Division I All-Rookie team honors, Synapse Sports announced on Wednesday. A total of 16 players throughout Division I Field Hockey received All-Rookie honors.

This is the first time a Pacific player has received national rookie honors from the organization. The award represents the second postseason plaudit for Castella, who was named to the All-NorPac Conference first team following the regular season.

Castella started all 20 contests for the Tigers in 2014, making an immediate impact on defense for the Orange and Black. Cristina recorded six assists, good for tops on the team as the Tigers recorded their best record since the 2007 season.

Head Coach Andy Smith said of the honor "This is a wonderful honor for Cris.  We are thrilled that she has received this recognition as a rookie and we look forward to her continued growth and development over the next few years."
