Davin Johnson enters his second season at Pacific in 2011-12. A defensive specialist, Johnson helped the Tigers lower their field goal percentage allowed and points per game in 2010-11, while Pacific became a force on the glass.
Six years ago Johnson became the co-founder and head coach of the NorCal Elite Basketball Club where his program and his players have been recognized on a national level as being one of the top AAU girls basketball programs in the United States. NorCal Elite has recruited players from all over the north state, including Sacramento, Stockton, San Francisco, San Jose, Fairfield, Reno, Chico, Redding, Eureka, and Gilroy among many other cities. NorCal Elite was also the first girls team in Northern California to have a player from overseas (Japan) participate in Exposure tournaments in the summer.
In addition to coaching AAU, Johnson also started a basketball training business nine years ago that offered personal basketball lessons, camps, and clinics. This business was renowned for offering some of the best basketball training techniques in Northern California. Through these services, Johnson personally trained men and women collegiate players, as well as men playing professionally overseas and women playing in the WNBA.
Johnson has helped over 50 girls go on to receive basketball scholarships in college, as well as personally trained and coached elite players, McDonald's All-American and state record holders. Johnson began his coaching career nine years ago as the Boys Varsity Basketball Coach at Forest Lake Christian in Auburn, California. Originally from San Diego, Johnson grew up playing basketball in Monterey, Calif. before attending Grand Canyon University on a basketball scholarship.
Later, he moved to Sacramento where his family has resided for the last 13 years.
