Pacific Resumed The Conference Championships On Thursday
Los Angeles, Calif. – The Pacific Men's and Women's Swimming teams returned to the pool for the second night of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) Swimming Championships on Thursday, February 16.
The night began with sophomore Haylee Shillington and senior Jayme Swalin earning points with a ninth an 16th place finish in the Women's 500 Yard Freestyle. Shillington finished with a time of 4:52.90, while Swalin clocked in at 5:00.58. Junior Jenna Chaplin and sophomore Brittney Cameron followed with times of 5:00.86 and 5:04.01, respectively.
In the Men's 500 freshman Brandon Presswood hit the end of the pool with a time of 4:40.66 good for 22nd place.
Then in the Women's 200 Yard, the Orange and Black picked up another point when junior Allie Vetterlein finished in the Consolation Final with a time of 2:05.56.
The men added a 13th place finish in the 200 on the back of Roger Ward's 1:51.22 time. Nate LeRoy and RJ Barton rounded out the Tiger swimmers with a time of 1:53.14 and 1:56.64, respectively.
Then, in the squads best event of the night, Mary-Ella Randall recorded a second place finish in the Women's 50 Yard Freestyle. Her time of 23.11 added 17 points to the Tigers score, and was the team's highest individual placing of the night. Rounding out the Tigers in the 50 was Annie Sumioka with a time of 24.19.
Following Randall's excellent performance in the 50 was the men's freshman Casey Fleming with a 12th place finish and a time of 20.63.
In the 400 Yard Medley Relay, the women finished in fifth place with a team time of 3:47.12. Dekel Shahaf, Mallory McGowan, Vetterlein and Randall led the charge to collect 28 points.
The men's 400 Yard Medley Relay team composed of Cooper Rogers, LeRoy, Kevin Byers and Fleming were disqualified due to an early take-off from Byers.
