Swimming To Compete In Arena Classic

Stockton, Calif. - The Pacific men's and women's swim teams will take on some of the nation's best squads this week as part of the prestigious three-day Arena Invitational in Long Beach, Calif., beginning Thursday, November 17.

The meet will take place at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool and is hosted by UC San Diego. It will follow an NCAA Championship format, with the men getting underway at 9 a.m. followed by the women at 11 a.m. Final heats will take place each evening beginning at 6 p.m.

The women's side features Arizona State, BYU, California, Cal State Bakersfield, Fresno State, Hawaii, Loyola Marymount, Oregon State, Pepperdine, San Diego, San Diego State, San Jose State, Stanford, UCLA, UC San Diego, and UC Santa Barbara. California, currently ranked second nationally, has won the last two NCAA titles. Stanford is currently ranked seventh, Arizona State is 23rd, and UCLA is 25th.

Air Force, Arizona State, BYU, Cal State Bakersfield, Hawaii, Stanford, UC San Diego, and UC Santa Barbara make up the men's field. Stanford is currently ranked fourth while UC Santa Barbara is currently receiving votes.

The Tigers' teams have been idle since dominating the quad meet on November 4 and 5. Playing host to MPSF foes Air Force, Cal State Bakersfield, and Seattle U, along with Fresno State, Pacific's women's team went undefeated over the two days while their male counterparts finished the weekend at 4-1, including a sweep on Saturday.
