One of Pacific’s most versatile swimmers, Dunnigan had an impressive junior campaign for the Tigers. His best finish was a sixth-place showing in the 200 Fly versus conference foes Seattle and CSU Bakersfield. He added a pair of seventh-place finishes, one each in the 400 IM and 1000 Free, and two eighth-place finishes, one in the 1650 Free and one in the 400 IM. At the 2012 MPSF Championships, Dunnigan collected a trio of top-20 finishes highlighted by a 14th-place showing in the 200 Fly with a time of 1:51.75. He finished 19th in the 1650 Free with a time of 16:07.97 and took 20th in the 400 IM behind a time of 4:04.55. Outside of the pool, Dunnigan earned MPSF All-Academic honors for the second straight season.
Dunnigan was a First Team All-MPSF selection in the 1650 Free and earned MPSF All-Academic recognition. At the 2011 MPSF Championships, he impressed with a third-place finish in the 1650 Free (16:08.42) and a seventh-place finish in the 200 Fly (1:53.64). Dunnigan finished third in the 200 Fly at the Quad Meet on Nov. 6, touching the wall at 1:59.02. Against UC Santa Barbara on Jan. 29, he earned a pair of third-place finishes, clocking in at 10:11.06 in the 1000 Free and 2:02.08 in the 200 Fly.
Dunnigan took seventh in the 200 Fly (1:54.01), 10th in the 400 IM (4:03.35), and 11th in the 1650 Free (16:15.23) at the 2010 Big West Championships. Dunnigan won the 400 IM against California on Oct. 10 with a time of 4:24.77. He took third in the 200 IM (2:06.24) against Cal State Bakersfield on Oct. 31, then followed that up with a runner-up finish in the 400 IM (4:22.11) and a third-place finish in the 200 Fly (2:02.92) versus Denver on Nov. 7. A time of 4:29.68 in the 400 IM was good for third against Stanford on Jan. 9.
Dunnigan graduated from C. Milton Wright High School in Bel Air, Md.
Dunnigan was born in Baltimore, Md., and is the son of John and Therese Dunnigan. He has two older sisters, Shannon and Amanda. Amanda swam for South Carolina from 2005-09. Dunnigan is majoring in environmental science.
