Obert Named To Senior National Team For 2013 FINA World Championship

Stockton, Calif. - Pacific junior Alex Obert has earned a spot on the USA Water Polo Men's Senior National Team roster for the 2013 FINA World Championship, head coach Dejan Udovicic announced Monday.  The 13-man roster is made up entirely of former and current MPSF players and features six Olympians. Obert and his teammates will open competition Monday in a Four Nations tournament in Belgrade, Serbia before traveling to Barcelona, Spain to open their FINA World Championship quest against Croatia on July 22nd.

Obert has prior national team experience, having competed in his first major event with the Senior National Team at the 2013 FINA World League Super Final in Chelyabinsk, Russia, scoring two goals as the United States attained a fourth place finish.

Obert, from Loomis, Calif. was an ACWC 2nd team All-America selection in 2012 for the Tigers, posting 51 goals on the season as well as 15 multi-goal games, including a career high five goals in an upset of #4 California.   He paced Pacific with 10 goals at the MPSF Tournament in Los Angeles as Pacific finished 6th.
