2013 (Senior):

A First-Team All-MPSF selection and First Team All-American. Malkis made 332 saves on the season, allowing just 218 goals. He held opponents to 8.81 goals per game and made 13.41 saves per game. He was three times an MPSF Player of the Week selection in 2013, including two weeks in a row during one stretch this fall. He was also named Pacific Athletics Competitor of the Month for the month of September. Finished second all-time on Pacific's all-time saves list with 1,057, four shy of the school record. Earned a spot on the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Team.

2012 (Junior):
Malkis had a stellar junior season in the cage for Pacific, further showcasing his status as one of the nation's elite goalkeepers en route to earning Honorable Mention All-America honors. He racked up 273 saves on the year and led the MPSF with an average of 12.07 saves per game. Malkis set a new career best with 18 blocks in the Tigers' overtime upset win over then-No. 4 California before topping that mark with 22 saves against Stanford, both at the SoCal Tournament. He surpassed the 700 career saves mark in Pacific's final game of the season against Long Beach State at the MPSF Tournament. All told, Malkis finished the year with 15 double-digit save outings en route to earning Honorable Mention All-MPSF honors. 

2011 (Sophomore):
Having established himself as one of the top goalies in the MPSF last season, Malkis had an equally impressive sophomore campaign. He notched a league-best 230 saves in 22.5 games of work. His 10.22 saves per game average ranked second in the conference. Malkis registered 12 double-figure save outings, including a season-high 14 blocks against UC Irvine on Sept. 18 and versus Long Beach State on Nov. 19. Academically, he was an Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches Academic All-America selection and an MPSF All-Academic pick.

2010 (Freshman):
In his first season in the cage for the Tigers, Malkis recorded 222 saves in 26 games for an 8.54 blocks per game average. After recording a personal- and MPSF season-high 18 saves against UC Irvine on October 31, he was voted the MPSF Mikasa Player of the Week on Nov. 8. For his stellar play during his freshman campaign, Malkis was named to the All-MPSF Honorable Mention team, Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) All-America Honorable Mention team, and ACWPC All-Academic team. In January of 2011, Malkis was recognized as a Pacific Scholar Athlete.

Malkis graduated from Meggido Regional High School in Ein Hashofet, Israel.

Personal:
Malkis is the son of Arkady and Elionora Malkis, and has two siblings, Iliga and Chen. Alex served in Israel's national army from October 2007 to January 2010 and is currently the starting goalie for the Israeli Senior National Team. Internationally, Malkis participated at the European B Championships in 2007 and the 20-and-Under Championships held in Turkey in 2008. In his second year at Pacific, he is majoring in engineering management.
