Three Tigers Named To All-MPSF Teams

Stockton, Calif. – Junior Goran Tomasevic, sophomore Balazs Erdelyi, and senior Tom Koning were named to the 2011 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Conference team, as announced by the conference office Tuesday. Tomasevic and Erdelyi both earned first team honors while Koning was an honorable mention pick.

"I'm very excited and happy for Goran, Balazs, and Tom," Pacific head coach James Graham said. "I believe that through team success comes individual success. We as a team could not be more proud of these three, and the honor is truly well-deserved."

Arguably the most dominant two-meter player in the nation, Tomasevic was named a first team selection for the second straight season. He finished the year with 46 goals, good for third-most on the team, while his 1.77 goals per game average ranked ninth in the conference. Tomasevic had 15 multi-goal games this season, including six hat tricks and a pair of four-score outings. He also paced the Tigers with 76 drawn ejections, accounting for 40 percent of the team's drawn ejections.

Erdelyi also earned first team honors after being named the league's Newcomer of the Year last season. He tallied 56 scores on the season, good for second on the team and fourth in the conference, and had a team-best 18 multi-goal games, including nine hat tricks. His 2.24 scoring average was also good for fourth in the league. Erdelyi scored in 24 of the 25 games in which he played, and ended the year with a scoring streak of 24 consecutive matches. He also led the team with 402 steals, 43 assists, and 19 field blocks.

Koning capped off a stellar four-year career with his first conference honor. Pacific's leading scorer with 58 goals, he recorded 16 multi-goal games, including four hat tricks, three four-goal outings, and two five-goal performances. He now sits sixth all-time in Pacific history with 158 career goals while his 2.23 scoring average ranked fifth in the league. Koning ended the year with a scoring streak of 12 consecutive matches, and he also added 26 steals and 14 assists.

The Tigers' two first team selections were second-most behind USC's four, and both will be returning next season, giving Pacific a very talented core to build around.

"To have the second-most first team selections is huge," Graham continued. "To have both of them returning is even more exciting."
