Pacific Athletes Honored For Heroism By Stockton PD
Stockton, Calif. - For their heroism and bravery on November 2, 2010, current Pacific athletes Amy Moore and Florian Gornik along with former athletes Moritz Starke Erin Stephens were honored on Tuesday, April 26 by the Stockton Police Department. The four were awarded Citizen Recognition Certificates by the city for their actions.
On the night of November 2, the four athletes attempted to rescue William Wesley Copeland from his vehicle in the Calaveras River after Copeland lost control and plunged into the river. The group of students who witnessed the accident attempted to free Copeland from his upside down vehicle before emergency personel was able to arrive and take over the recue attempt.
In addition to Pacific's athletes the police department honored approximately two dozen officers and other citizens whose actions went above and beyond the call of duty over the past year.
