Malibu, Calif. – No. 15 Pacific Men's Volleyball fell in three sets to No. 4 Pepperdine on Friday, January 18 in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) duel.
The Tigers kept the first two sets close, but dropped the contest by the game scores of 25-19, 25-19, 25-15.
The loss drops Pacific to 1-2 on the season and 0-2 in conference matches. Pepperdine improved to 2-1 and 1-1 in MPSF play.
Junior Adam Troy led the Tigers with eight kills and seven digs, while senior Taylor Hughes added seven kills.
The Tigers dropped the opening set, 25-19, despite Troy hitting .500 and Hughes hitting .429. Each finished with four kills in the game. Seniors Christian Ahlin and Matthew Houlihan added a pair of kills in the set, respectively. Senior Patrick Tunnell recorded all of the Tigers 13 assists in the frame.
The two squads traded points to a 15-all tie in the second set, but the Tigers fell by the same score as the previous game, 25-19. Hughes again led Pacific in kills with three while adding a block.
Tunnell added six assists and a block in the final frame, but Pacific fell by the score of 25-15. As a team, the Tigers collected a pair of blocks and six kills in the final frame.
The Tigers will return to the court on Sunday, January 20 at 2 p.m. against No. 7 USC.
