Men's Volleyball Heads To Stanford For Mid-Week Contest
Stockton, Calif. – The No. 13 Pacific men's volleyball team returns to the court tomorrow, April 3 for a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF) match at No. 5 Stanford.
The Tigers head into the match following a tough five-set loss to current No. 6 Pepperdine. In the match, the Tigers had the trio of Florian Gornik, Taylor Hughes and Matthew Houlihan all collect double-digit kills, 18, 17, 15, respectively. Pacific also saw junior Christian Ahlin and senior Sean Daley record seven total blocks each in the match.
For the season, the Tigers offensively are led by Gornik and Hughes, who have tallied 271 and 267 kills, respectively. At the pins, the Orange and Black is led by Daley with 122 total blocks with 23 block solos.
Helping the Tiger attackers is junior setter Patrick Tunnell with 821 assists on the year to average 10.14 per set. Also, a constant for Pacific is sophomore libero Javier Caceres who has recorded 200 digs on the season for an average of 2.44 per game.
Leading the Cardinal is Brad Lawson with 319 kills on the year to average 3.99 per frame, while Eric Mochalski has collected 69 total blocks.
The Tigers will welcome Cal State Northridge and Long Beach State to the Alex G. Spanos Center for a pair of MPSF matches on April 6 and 7, both matches are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
