Men's Swimming Faces Cal State Bakersfield In Dual Meet

What's Happening
The Pacific men's swim team will participate in its first dual meet of the 2011-12 season Saturday, October 29, when it takes on Mountaon Pacific Sports Federation foe Cal State Bakersfield at 12 p.m.

Last Week In Brief
The Tigers last competed on October 14 and 15 when they played host to the annual Pacific Invite. Competing against Stanford and BYU, Pacific took third with 703 points. The Cardinal took home the meet title with 1,055.5 points while BYU claimed second with 829.5 points.

A Quick Look Ahead
On Friday, November 4, Pacific welcomes Seattle U and Cal State Bakersfield to Kjeldsen Pool for the first day of a quad meet at 3 p.m. Air Force will join the trio for the second day of the meet, which will begin at 12 p.m. Saturday.

National Rankings
Individually, the Tigers have multiple swimmers ranked in the top 100 nationally. Pacific owns eight top-100 times in the 1650 Free, highlighted by freshman Brandon Chandler's time of 16:01.08, which ranks eighth. Junior Zachary Zlotoff ranks 15th (16:24.60), freshman Jeff Peters ranks 20th (16:48.27), freshman Brandon Presswood ranks 23rd (16:57.04), junior Sean Dunnigan ranks 30th (17:29.26), sophomore Adam Sharp ranks 32nd (17:46.03), freshman Chris Pallios ranks 33rd (17:46.22), and senior David Banks ranks 42nd (19:21.79). Chandler also has the 84th best time in the 500 Free (4:41.06).

Sophomore Oliver Simkovic owns a trio of top-100 marks, including the 34th best time in the 400 IM (4:07.52), the 72nd best time in the 200 Back (1:52.99), and the 81st best time in the 200 IM (1:55.67).

Senior Roger Ward ranks 56th in the 400 IM with a time of 4:12.22 and 84th in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:08.57. Classmate Nate LeRoy ranks 93rd in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:09.09.

Two first-year Tigers possess top-100 times, as well. Freshman Cooper Rogers ranks 70th in the 100 Back (51.47) while classmate Jeff Peters ranks 70th in the 400 IM (4:15.43).

The Orange and Black's relay teams also own top times. The 800 Free Relay team ranks seventh with a time of 7:00.81 while the 200 Free Relay team (1:25.93) and the 400 Free Relay team (3:10.52), rank 28th and 47th, respectively. The Tigers' 200 Medley Relay team ranks 55th with a time of 1:36.15.

Scouting Cal State Bakersfield
The Roadrunners have competed in a pair of dual meets this season, losing 197-91 to inaugural MPSF member UNLV and 150-101 to USC. Junior Alex Daneke was named MPSF Male Swimmer of the Week for his performance against the Trojans. He claimed an event title in the 100 Fly with a time of 52.09 and anchored the winning 200 Free Relay team. He also finished second in the 200 Back (1:55.75) and sixth in the 200 Free (1:45.19).

Cal State Bakersfield won the MPSF title last year in the league's inaugural season. The Roadrunners have won the last four dual meets against the Tigers. Pacific last won back on January 13, 2007 by a score of 172-152.
