San Diego, Calif. - Not to be left out of the fun over the summer of golf success, junior Byron Meth etched his name atop the standings at the San Diego City Amateur Championship over the weekend to take home his first title of the summer. For the three-round tournament, Meth posted a -5, as he closed the final day of play with a -2 to stake his claim at the top. Meth would win the championship in a one-hole playoff over Bryan Shin after the two tied at 211 after 54-holes.
The big move for Meth came on day two of the tournament when the Tiger standout carded a 68 to push his way into contention and into a tie for third heading into the final round. Meth's 68 matched the low round of the tournament.
Meth has just missed taking home the title at the San Diego City Amateur Championship, his home tournament, the last few years. It is his first tournament victory since winning the Aaron Baddeley International Junior Championships during the summer of 2011.
