Maeng became a stalwart in Pacific's during the second half of the season as the first-year golfer played in eight tournaments including each of the final seven contests for the Tigers. SeungJae's best finish came at the Big West Championships where he tallied a +8, 224 to place 16th overall. Weeks later at the NCAA Regionals, Maeng continued his late surge as he posted his second best tournament score of the season at -1, 215 to finish tied for 29th among the best the West had to offer.
A graduate of Moanalua High School, SeungJae was one of the top junior golfers in the state of Hawaii. As a senior, SeungJae showed off his skills at the 103rd Manoa Cup, the Hawaii State Amateur Match-Play Championship, where he was a semifinalist, finishing tied for fifth out of 64 of the best amateur golfers. After just missing out on winning the Manoa Cup, Maeng took home the title at the 2011 Mayor's Cup in the Championship Bracket in September. In November, Maeng was part of a team of amateur golfers to defeat the professionals at the 39th Annual Governor John A. Burns Challenge Cup in the Ryder Cup Style golf event. At Moanalua, Maeng was part of a team that took home the 2011 O'ahu Interscholastic Association title while finishing 8th as an individual at the tournament. The championship tournament was cancelled in 2012 due to weather.
