Spring Tournament Play Resumes As Pacific Heads To The North Ranch Intercollegiate
Heading south to take part in the North Ranch Intercollegiate, the Pacific golf team will kick off their Spring tournament schedule at the North Ranch Country Club on Monday, February 27 - Tuesday, February 28. The Tigers will take part in the 14-team tournament which will be played on the par-70, 6,728-yard course in Westlake Village, Calif. Historically a tournament hosted by USC, this years host will be Pepperdine as USC focuses on its duties of hosting the 2012 NCAA Championships later in the year.
Pacific will send freshmen Kevin Andrews, Byron Meth and Eric Sugimoto alongside of junior Alex Edfort and senior Dan Garcia to compete in the tournament that will feature teams from acros the country. The Tigers will be pair initially with Arizona State and San Diego for the first two rounds of the tournnament on day one of the event with the teams teeing off at 7:30 am from the 10th tee. Weather conditions at the course are expected to be harsh as storm clouds have been sighted in the area and high wind warnings will be in effect.
The Tigers are looking to keep their momentum going from an impressive showing against the No. 11 Stanford Cardinal last week in head-to-head action when Pacific played the Cardinal to a draw in Carmel, Calif. Both teams took two matches with a fifth played to a draw to finish the day 2-1-2 at the prestigious Preserve Golf Club.
