Tigers Sign Rodrigo De Souza For 2011-12

Stockton, Calif. - University of the Pacific Head Men's Basketball Coach Bob Thomason has announced the signing of Rodrigo De Souza for the 2011-12 season.
Rodrigo is a 6-2 point guard from Sao Paulo, Brazil. He comes to Pacific as a junior, after spending three years at Western Wyoming Community College in Rock Springs, Wyo. After helping lead WWCC to a 28-11 record in 2010-11, he earned All-Wyoming Community College Athletic Conference Second Team honors. Rodrigo averaged 9.7 points, and led the team with 3.3 assists and 1.8 steals per game. The Mustangs won the NJCAA Region IX Tournament with four victories in four days to advance to the NJCAA National Tournament. After earning NJCAA Region IX All-Tournament honors, De Souza led the team to a 3-1 mark to finish seventh in the nation at the NJCAA National Tournament. Prior to redshirting the 2009-10 season, Rodridgo averaged 9.1 points, 2.1 assists and 1.3 steals per game in 2008-09 for WWCC.
"Rodrigo is a strong point guard that is an excellent passer and three-point shooter," said Thomason. "His leadership, personality and feel for the game is what distinguishes him from others. With Rodrigo, our guard play will be a great strength in the 2011-12 season."
