This Week In Tiger Men's Basketball
The Pacific men's basketball team hosts San Francisco and Santa Clara this weekend, as the Tigers look to earn their first West Coast Conference victory. The Tigers host USF on Thursday, Jan. 9 at 7:00 p.m., while the Broncos come to town for an early 1:00 p.m. tip on Saturday, Jan. 11. Both games will be televised by TheW.tv, while Saturday's contest is the WCC's Game of the Week. For Saturday's game, it will be aired by Time Warner, Root Sports, Comcast SportsNet and TheW.tv.
Pacific is 9-5 and 0-3 in WCC action after a 72-64 loss at Portland on Thursday and an 86-64 loss at No. 21 Gonzaga on Saturday night. Freshman David Taylor scored a career-high 10 points in the Gonzaga loss. The Tigers are ranked No. 19 in the latest CollegeInsider.com Mid-Major top 25 poll. Senior Sama Taku leads the team with 12.1 points per game, while senior Tony Gill is averaging a team-best 5.6 rebounds per game.
San Francisco is 10-6 and 3-1 in WCC play after wins over Loyola Marymount (75-61) and Pepperdine (76-66). Cole Dickerson leads the Dons with 13.3 points and 7.4 rebounds per game on the season. Pacific trails the all-time series with San Francisco 62-31 and 23-22 in Stockton. The Tigers won last year in Stockton (67-59), have won the last three meetings in Stockton and five of six overall.
Santa Clara is 9-8 on the season and 2-2 in WCC play. The Broncos are led by Brandon Clark, who averages 17.1 points per game. Pacific trails the all-time series with Santa Clara 81-37 and 32-26 in Stockton. The Broncos have won three of the last four in the series, including a 75-71 victory over the Tigers in Stockton last year.
