Horizon Air Summer Series Honors Wideman's Play

Stockton, Calif. - Senior catcher Kurt Wideman (Fallbrook, Calif.) of the Maxim Yankees summer club was announced as a Horizon Air Summer Series All-Series 2008 Second Team selection as a utility player yesterday.

Wideman earned the recognition after finishing out his summer with the Yankees batting .304 with 24 hits, six doubles and 14 RBI. Three other Yankees made the second team list, with two more nabbing honorable mention.

The Horizon Air Summer series is an 11-week competition featuring collegiate teams in wooden baseball bat leagues from the Western United States, in the National Baseball Congress.
