Hayes made 36 starts for the Tigers in his sophomore campaign. Hayes recorded career-highs in hits with three against Saint Mary’s (4/22), in RBI (2) four times, and in runs (2) three times. In the Portland series (4/27-4/30), Hayes hit back-to-back game home runs. In game two of the Portland series (4/28), Hayes notched a career-high in extra base hits in a game (2) with a double and a home run. The Carmel, California, native finished the season with 27 hits, 17 RBI, and 15 runs scored.
Appeared in 16 games in his first year with the Tigers recording five hits and scoring two runs.
Hayes played for the Carmel High School Padres in the Mission Trail Athletic League before coming to Pacific. The Padres were three-time league champions and twice were the section runner ups. Hayes hit .437 as a sophomore, .493 as a junior, and .505 as a senior, earning All-league and All-Monterey County selections in each of those three years. He was twice named the Monterey County MVP as well as twice making the Small School All-State Team. In all four of his years in high school, Hayes was on the varsity team.
Hayes is majoring in communications at Pacific. He is the son of Rob Hayes and Jessica Phillips and has one sister, Myla Hayes.
