Pacific Earns Three Top-Two Finishes At MPSFs

LOS ANGELES, Calif. - Pacific worked its way into third place in total points after the first day of the four-day MPSF Championships, coming away with three second-place finishes and one fourth-place finish in the first four relay races of the meet.

In the women's 200 Medley Relay, Pacific's team of Cai Hong Singh, Semaj Walker, Kenna Ramey, and Vaiva Gimbutyte took second with a time of 1:40.44.  That put them just 1.5 seconds behind winner UC Santa Barbara.

The men also took second in the 200 Medley Relay, missing a win by under a tenth of a second.  The team of Makoa Haneberg, Yahav Shahaf, Stewart Harrison, and Mitchell Ongstad swam a 1:26.32.  Hawai'i just barely beat out the Tigers, swimming a 1:26.25 to touch out Pacific.

The women just barely missed a top-three finish in the 800 Free Relay, taking fourth.  Taylor Hosmer, Becca Aguilar, Jillian Hatch, and Whitney Jorgensen swam a 7:20.21 in the event.

The Tigers made it three top-two finishes in four events when the men's 800 Free Relay team of Miles MacKenzie, Georan Meendering, Neil Franka, and Curtis Klein swam a 6:29.14.  That gave the Tigers another second-place finish.

Overall, Pacific finished the first day of the MPSFs in third place in total points, behind only Hawai'i and UC Santa Barbara with their 132 total points.  Both the men's and women's teams sat in third place individually.

The MPSF Championships continue tomorrow, with eight events beginning at 10:00 am.
