History of the ALC

The Athletics Leadership Council (ALC) was established during the 2012-13 academic and athletic year. It is an advisory board to the University President and Athletic Director that advises athletics leadership in areas such as programs, facilities, marketing, financial support, future planning and more. The ALC has a membership of approximately 30 people that includes alumni, university staff and community leaders. The ALC meets three times annually and is led by a chairperson and executive committee.

Mission Statement - Pacific Athletic Department
The mission of the Intercollegiate Athletics Program is to facilitate the personal development and higher education of talented students, through their active participation in a highly competitive, broad-based program at the NCAA Division I level. Pacific Athletics is dedicated to providing its student athletes with opportunities to experience fully the valuable lessons of self-discipline, competition, leadership, teamwork, sportsmanship, and community involvement through athletics participation. The Athletics program, in its entirety, is committed to and will strive to be a program reflecting a model of excellence.

Function of Athletics Leadership Council
The Athletics Leadership Council (ALC), a University advisory body appointed by the University President shall advise the President and Director of Athletics concerning the University’s Athletic programs, facilities, financial support, public relations, future planning and special projects. Because the ALC serves as a valuable function in its role of providing advice and counsel to the University’s administration, and thus has an impact on the larger University community, it shall be governed by the University Code of Conduct  as it may be amended from time to time. The ALC shall report annually, in writing, to the President.

Membership Responsibilities and Expectations
Membership on the ALC carries with it important responsibilities. An involved and influential board has the potential to be one of the Athletic Department’s most important assets. The continued success of the ALC depends significantly on the ALC’s leadership and engagement in all aspects of the ALC’s planning. It is, therefore, essential that ALC members maintain the highest standards of commitment and participation. Certain of these responsibilities and expectations are meant to be fulfilled more or less equally by all members; with fulfilment varying in form dependent on skills/content expertise, resources and interests.
