Tigers Host Annual Pacific Sports Day

Oct. 9, 2009

Stockton, Calif. - This year, 175 students from Westwood Elementary and John Muir Elementary participated in the Annual Pacific Sports Day. It was like a "field day" with the kids and the student athletes played games and taught sport-specific skills. The student athletes talked to the children about healthy habits as well as hard work it takes on the practice field and in the classroom to be a successful student-athlete.

Freshman Katy Walton of the women's water polo team participated in sports day when she was younger and recently as a student-athlete.

"When I was younger I loved coming to the Pacific Sports day because it was fun to play games with the college kids and it made you feel important" said Walton on her experience. "Getting to work at Sports Day was fun and hopefully we had as much impact on the kids as the people who ran it when I came as a student."
