Pacific Hires Derrick Magee as New Director of Athletic Finance

Stockton, Calif. - University of the Pacific Director of Athletics Lynn King announced today that Derrick Magee has been hired as the new Director of Athletic Finance.

"We are pleased to have Derrick join the Pacific Athletics staff," said King. "He is an exceptional fit for our administrative team and I am looking forward to working with him."

"I'm excited to be here at Pacific," said Magee. "It's great to be back in college athletics, and I look forward to helping Pacific move forward."

Magee comes to Pacific from the Manteca Unified School District, where he was a physical science and physical education teacher. Magee was also a teacher and coach in the Ceres Unifed School District and the Jefferson School District from 2002-05.

Magee also worked with the Orlando Magic as a business development intern in 2002 and was the athletic business manager and an assistant men¹s basketball coach at Florida A&M from 1999-2001.

He earned his undergraduate degree from Florida Agricultural & Mechanical University in 2000. He was a member of the 1998-99 team at Florida A&M that advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in school history. He went on to earn his MBA from Cal State Stanislaus in August of 2005. Magee is currently working on his Doctorate of Sports Management through the United States Sports Academy.
