Tod Bannister Named Pacific Tigers Athletics Association Executive Director

Stockton, Calif. - University of the Pacific Director of Athletics Lynn King has announced the hiring of Tod Bannister as Assistant Athletic Director for External Affairs and Pacific Tigers Athletics Association Executive Director. Bannister replaces Jim Dugoni, who resigned on April 17 to become Pacific's Director of Annual Giving.

Bannister joins the Athletic Department after spending the past six years as Director of the Cooperative Education Program in the School of Engineering and Computer Science. While there his primary duties included placing over 150 co-op and internship students annually in engineering related positions throughout the world. He worked closely with industry to help in securing these paid co-ops for the school's undergraduates. He also held a faculty position and taught a course that helped prepare students for their entry in the work world. He was also instrumental in developing marketing materials related to the program that were used to recruit new industry partners that were looking to hire Pacific students.

"Tod brings a tremendous skill set and perspective to our department," said King. "He has earned a great reputation at Pacific and we are very pleased he is coming to work with us."

"I believe wholeheartedly in the athletics department here at Pacific, where coaches and administrators understand and appreciate the mission of intercollegiate athletics. Bannister also spent six years as an assistant basketball coach with both the men's and women's programs at Pacific. He was an assistant coach under current head coach Bob Thomason from 1990-94, helping the Tigers to 61 victories. While with the men's team he served as both the Recruiting Coordinator and Defensive Coordinator. He was an assistant coach for Melissa Taketa on the women's side in 1995-96 and 1996-97.

Over the last eight years Bannister has been the color analyst for the Pacific Tigers men's basketball team and this past season co-hosted the University of California post game men's basketball show from Berkeley.
