16 Student-Athletes Make Spring Academic All-Big West List

Irvine, Calif. - It was announced today that 215 student-athletes from the nine member institutions of the Big West Conference earned 2009-10 Spring Academic All-Big West honors while participating in the spring sports of baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, men's and women's golf and women's water polo. Of the 215 total recipients, Pacific recorded 16 student-athletes on the all-academic list.
To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes have to maintain a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, have attained a sophomore standing academically and competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
For baseball and softball, seniors Joe Oliveira (San Diego, Calif.), David Rowse (Pleasanton, Calif.), sophomore Gabby McDaniel (Sacramento, Calif.) and senior Karie Wilson (Glendale, Ariz.) earned the award.
Representing the Tigers in men's and women's tennis are seniors Renan Delsin (Santa Cruz da Conceicao, Brazil) and Artem Gramma (Krivoj Roj, Ukraine), sophomore Karl-Erik Paaro (Tallinn, Estonia), seniors Vegerd Veskimagi (Saku, Estonia), Sasha Fisher (Southampton, Bermuda) and Kateryna Nezhura (Kiev, Ukraine) and junior Jenifer Widjaja (Sao Roque, Brazil).
And rounding out the list are three honorees for women's water polo: junior Courtney Boettger (Stockton, Calif.), senior Catherine Collett (Fort Lauderdale, Fla.) and senior Bethany Quertermous (Humble, Texas).
