12 Tigers Named Academic All-Big West Conference Spring Athletes

Irvine, Calif. - The Big West conference announced that 175 student-athletes from nine member institutions earned Academic All-Big West honors while participating in the spring sports of baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and field, and men's and women's golf. Of the 175 student-athletes, 12 of the honorees are the Tigers.

To be eligible for the All-Academic team, student-athletes have to maintain a 3.2 cumulative grade point average, have attained a sophomore standing academically and competed in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.

Senior Brett Manning (Boulder, Colo.) and sophomore David Rowse (Pleasanton, Calif.) represented Pacific's Baseball team, while senior Alyce Jorgensen (Los Altos, Calif.) and junior Casey Goldsand (Scottsdale, Ariz.)

Senior Charles Van Sicklen (Stockton, Calif.) earned the honor from the Tigers' men's golf team.

The men's tennis team sent sophomores Chase Oliphant (Indio, Calif.) and Vegerd Veskimagi (Saku, Estonia).

Finally the women's tennis team had the most players recognized with four; juniors Clara Schumacher (Zaragoza, Spain) and Jolanta Twarowska (Hamburg, Germany) as well as sophomores Svenja Arens (Bensberg, Germany) and Sasha Fisher (Southampton, Bermuda).
