10 Tigers Earned Big West Academic All-Conference Honors

Irvine, Calif. - A total of 10 Pacific student-athletes were among the 126 student-athletes from the eight Big West Conference institutions who have earned Big West Academic All-Conference honors for the spring sports of baseball, softball, men's and women's tennis, men's and women's track and men's and women's golf.

Pacific's baseball and softball teams led the way for the Tigers as the two teams each placed three student-athletes on the conference's all-academic teams.

Senior Luke Massetti (Modesto, Calif.) and sophomores Justin Baum (La Mesa, Calif.) and Brett Manning (Boulder, Colo.) represented the Pacific baseball team.

The Pacific softball team was represented by juniors Gina Carbonatto (Lake Stevens, Wash.) and Jennifer Curtier (Lancaster, Calif.) were joined by sophomore Alyce Jorgensen (Los Altos, Calif.) on the team.

Pacific's men's tennis followed with two selections as senior Arnar Sigurdsson (Kopavogur, Iceland) and junior Alan Kelly (Dublin, Ireland) qualified for the all-academic squad.

The Tigers rounded out their academic all-conference honorees with single selections of junior Thomas Petersson (Stockholm, Sweden) from Pacific men's golf and sophomore Helen Schneider (Dernbach, Germany) from Pacific women's tennis.

To be eligible to receive Big West Academic All-Conference recognition, a student-athlete must maintain a 3.20 cumulative grade point average, complete one full academic year at the member institution prior to the season for which the award is being received (at least a sophomore academically), and compete in at least 50 percent of their team's contests.
