Ja-Neil Bragg Earns November Competitor of the Month Award
Dec. 9, 2008
Stockton, Calif. - Tiger junior Ja-Neil Bragg has earned the November Pacific Competitor of the Month award.
According to head coach Greg Meehan, "Ja-Neil was a rock for the women's swimming program in the month of November." She helped the team finish second at the WSU Invite, beat University of Denver in a dual meet and finish third out of 19 teams at the Nike Cup.
During November, she broke two school records. Bragg re-broke her own 400IM record and broke the 200 IM record from 2002.
She swam 4:14.81 in the 400IM to make an NCAA "A" cut which means she is now qualified for the NCAA Championships in March.
Bragg was on all 5 relays at the Nike Cup, swimming 13 events in 3 days. Said Meehan, "When we put her on the anchor leg of a relay we know we are getting her very best effort. Her relay splits almost all the time are significantly faster than what she had done in an individual event."
The award is given each month to a Pacific individual to recognize unusual or remarkable competitive effort.
