Pacific and the Library and Literacy Foundation for San Joaquin County Team to Take a Time Out For Reading Tonight
Jan. 23, 2010
Stockton, Calif. - University of the Pacific and the Library & Literacy Foundation for San Joaquin County are teaming up to "Take a Time Out for Reading" at the Four Minute media timeout of the first half of the Tigers' game against UC Davis tonight. The game is scheduled for a 7:00 p.m. start and will be televised nationally by ESPNU.
All fans are invited to be part of a special demonstration to show support for San Joaquin County's literacy movement. The plan is for everyone in the entire arena to stand and read silently for one-minute as a show of solidarity that Stockton cares about reading and is working to improve its literacy rate. All fans are encouraged to bring a book to the game to read during the appointed timeout as a donation for Reach Out & Read San Joaquin.
In addition, bring one or more new or gently used children's books to the game to get a half-price discount on game admission (only $5 per ticket) and then leave the children's books in one of the collection bins at the arena as a donation for the Reach Out & Read San Joaquin program. Children ages 12 & under are admitted free for all Pacific Athletic events, courtesy of Wells Fargo.
